Josh Addo-Carr Returns Positive Result from Second Roadside Drug Test…
Josh Addo-Carr, the Bulldogs winger, has reportedly tested positive for drugs following a second roadside test. Multiple outlets confirm that Addo-Carr’s initial test on Friday night came back positive, and the secondary test has now returned the same result.
In a statement to Nine’s Danny Weidler,
Addo-Carr’s legal team said, “Police informed our office this afternoon that the secondary test carried out by Josh Addo-Carr has returned a positive result. We are dealing with the situation in conjunction with Josh and will determine a path moving forward in due course.”
This follows earlier remarks by Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould, who noted that it could take up to 10 weeks to finalize the results of Addo-Carr’s secondary drug test. Addo-Carr had also undergone a personal test on Monday, which reportedly came back clean.
Despite maintaining his innocence and standing by the club, Addo-Carr initially did not inform Gould about the positive drug test. As a result of the ongoing investigation, the Bulldogs star voluntarily withdrew from the team’s upcoming final against the Manly Sea Eagles, marking the club’s first finals appearance in eight years.
The original NSW Police statement details that Addo-Carr was pulled over for random testing at 10:45 p.m. on Friday. While his breath test returned a negative result, a drug wipe allegedly indicated a positive result. Police obtained an oral fluid sample for further analysis but were interrupted by an urgent call about a home invasion, delaying further testing.
No charges have been laid against Addo-Carr as the investigation continues, with the forensic analysis results still pending.
This development puts additional pressure on the Bulldogs as they prepare for their finals clash, while questions loom over Addo-Carr’s future with the club and NRL.
