Broncos Ready for 2024 with Defensive End Duo of Zach Allen and John Franklin-Myers
After acquiring John Franklin-Myers in a trade with the New York Jets earlier this offseason, the Denver Broncos are gearing up for the 2024 NFL season with a formidable defensive end duo—Zach Allen and Franklin-Myers (JFM). The chemistry between the two players has already sparked excitement, as they prepare to wreak havoc on opposing offenses.
Allen, who joined the Broncos last season, expressed his enthusiasm about teaming up with Franklin-Myers. “We’ve known each other for a couple of years now,” Allen shared in July. “We’ve always joked about playing together. Watching him from afar and now seeing it up close, it’s cool because we see the game the same way.”
This natural connection has allowed them to develop their partnership without the typical growing pains. “That whole learning period of playing with a guy opposite you, we didn’t really have—it’s been smooth sailing. That’s pretty rare to have, and it’s huge for us. We’ve hit the ground running,” Allen added.
In his debut season with the Broncos last year, Allen made a significant impact, racking up 24 quarterback hits and five sacks. Franklin-Myers, who brings a wealth of experience from his time with the Jets, tallied an impressive 48 QB hits and 14.5 sacks over his last three seasons in New York.
Franklin-Myers praised Allen’s versatility and skill set: “You see Zach play, and he can win with power, speed, and any type of move he throws out there. Having someone on the opposite side who sees the game the same way allows us to work together in exploiting protections.”
The pair’s ability to bounce ideas off each other and refine their techniques during training camp has only strengthened their partnership. With the 2024 season fast approaching, Allen and Franklin-Myers are expected to be a force to reckon with for the Broncos’ defense, bringing power and precision to the defensive line.
This dynamic duo could prove to be the key to Denver’s defensive success this fall.
