The Cleveland Browns have announced a significant change at the quarterback position. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has decided to start Dorian Thompson-Robinson in the upcoming Week 16 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, replacing Jameis Winston.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Winston, who took over as the starter after Deshaun Watson’s season-ending Achilles injury in October, has had a tumultuous tenure. While he delivered impressive performances, such as a 497-yard, four-touchdown game against the Denver Broncos, his inconsistency and turnovers have been detrimental. Notably, he threw eight interceptions over the past three games, all resulting in losses for the Browns.
Thompson-Robinson, a 2023 fifth-round draft pick from UCLA, has seen limited action this season, completing 15 of 34 passes for 100 yards and three interceptions. Last season, he appeared in eight games, starting three, with a 53.6% completion rate for 440 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions before being sidelined by injuries. Known for his mobility, he has rushed for 125 yards on 20 attempts over the past two seasons.
This quarterback change comes as the Browns hold a 3-11 record, following a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The team aims to stabilize its offense and evaluate Thompson-Robinson’s potential as they prepare for the remaining games of the season.
The Browns’ upcoming schedule includes a matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, December 22, 2024, followed by a home game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, December 29,2024.
