Duke University’s athletic programs have recently bolstered their rosters with several notable commitments across both basketball and football.
Men’s Basketball:
Khaman Maluach: On March 6, 2024, 7-foot-1 center Khaman Maluach from NBA Academy Africa committed to Duke. Ranked as the No. 1 center and No. 3 overall prospect in the 2024 class, Maluach chose Duke over Kansas, Kentucky, and UCLA.
Sion James: In May 2024, Duke secured a commitment from Tulane guard Sion James via the transfer portal. The 6-foot-4 guard withdrew from the 2024 NBA Draft to join the Blue Devils, aiming to contribute to a competitive program.
Brayden Burries: On July 15, 2024, combo guard Brayden Burries announced his commitment to Duke. Known for his scoring ability and defensive prowess, Burries was a highly sought-after prospect.
Kon Knueppel: A five-star forward from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Knueppel joined Duke’s 2024 recruiting class. He played a significant role in the 2024-25 season, averaging 14.4 points per game and stepping up during the ACC tournament.
Patrick Ngongba II: Another five-star recruit, center Patrick Ngongba II, committed to Duke over offers from UConn, Kansas State, and Kentucky. Despite an earlier foot surgery, he is expected to provide depth in the frontcourt.
Darren Harris: Known for his three-point shooting, 6-foot-6 wing Darren Harris was the first player from the 2024 recruiting cycle to commit to Duke, choosing the Blue Devils over several other programs.
