Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is understandably frustrated.
The Browns entered the 2024 season with playoff aspirations and were even seen by some as dark horse contenders for a deep postseason run. However, with only two games left in the regular season, Cleveland sits at a disappointing 3-12, leaving the team searching for answers.
Recently, Garrett made candid remarks about his future with the franchise, making it clear he wasn’t interested in sticking around for a rebuild. Following those comments, Garrett has reportedly had multiple discussions with the Browns’ front office. According to Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN, the team wanted to gauge his perspective, with plans to continue talks after the season ends.
Garrett’s statement has fueled trade rumors surrounding the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. However, for now, Cleveland seems unwilling to part ways with their star defender. The bigger question is whether Garrett himself will eventually request a trade.
At 29 years old and in his prime, Garrett has limited time left to perform at an elite level. A scenario where both sides decide to part ways isn’t out of the question.
The Browns will likely prioritize resolving their issues with Garrett during the offseason, but they must also establish a clear plan for the future. This season, Garrett has recorded 41 tackles, 12 sacks, and three forced fumbles.
