Florida State coach Mike Norvell annoy fans by addressing ‘failure’ of stunning 0-2 start
Florida State’s Season Spirals as Coach Mike Norvell Searches for Answers
Florida State’s 2024 football season is teetering on the brink of disaster after just two games. The Seminoles, defending ACC champions, have stumbled to an 0-2 start, with both losses coming against conference opponents. Monday night’s 28-13 defeat to Boston College has left head coach Mike Norvell urgently searching for solutions.
“I’m sick to how this season started. Tonight, I failed in preparing the team to go out and respond,” Norvell admitted after the loss. The frustration was palpable as the Seminoles struggled on both sides of the ball, mirroring their opening-week defeat to Georgia Tech.
New quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has yet to find his rhythm, with his performance against Boston College drawing criticism from fans, some even calling for him to be benched. The defense, once a cornerstone of FSU’s success, allowed 263 rushing yards, including 138 total yards and a receiving touchdown by former Seminole running back Treshaun Ward.
Norvell, now in his fifth season with FSU, faces a daunting challenge. After a stellar 13-1 campaign last year, this start has been far from what anyone expected. “There’s going to be plenty of negativity around this program,” Norvell acknowledged. “But we’ve got to stay together, get up, and fight back.”
With the season rapidly slipping away, Norvell and his team must regroup quickly if they hope to salvage their campaign.
