The Cleveland Browns’ running back saga took another devastating twist as Nick Chubb was placed on injured reserve with a broken foot, cutting short his remarkable comeback from last season’s severe knee injury.
Chubb’s return in Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals brought renewed optimism for Browns fans, but that hope quickly faded when he left the game against the Kansas City Chiefs in the second half due to this latest setback. Radio host Bruce Drennan voiced a somber perspective, speculating that fans might have witnessed Chubb’s final snap in a Browns uniform.
“That was heartbreaking for me—he broke his foot,” Drennan said on the Bruce Drennan Show. “I’m really worried we’ve seen the last of him. I hate to say it, but running backs have such short careers compared to other positions in the NFL.”
Drennan also pointed out that Chubb hadn’t quite looked like his former self since returning, a likely result of the extensive rehabilitation following last season’s injury.
Chubb’s journey back has been anything but easy. His previous injury was a complicated one, involving multiple torn ligaments in his left knee—the same knee he injured during his college career at Georgia in 2015. This time, the damage included his ACL, which had remained intact during the earlier incident.
