The Kentucky Wildcats continued their pattern of inconsistency on Saturday, following up a solid win over Vanderbilt with a tough loss to Alabama.
Despite taking an early lead and going up by 12 midway through the first half, Kentucky struggled down the stretch as Alabama closed the half on a 29-10 run.
In the second half, the Wildcats fought back and trimmed the deficit to three multiple times, but Alabama always had an answer. Eventually, the Crimson Tide pulled away and secured a 96-point victory.
Koby Brea led Kentucky with 20 points, hitting 4-of-10 from beyond the arc. Andrew Carr added 17 points, while Amari Williams recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Otega Oweh, who had been consistently scoring in double digits, was limited to just two points.
Kentucky shot a respectable 42% from the field, but Alabama was more efficient at 52%. The Wildcats held their own in several statistical areas and even won the turnover battle, but Alabama capitalized on those mistakes, outscoring Kentucky 24-11 in points off turnovers.
Ultimately, Kentucky couldn’t keep pace with Alabama’s offense, resulting in another SEC loss. Next, the Wildcats will look to bounce back against the Oklahoma Sooners.
