This offseason promises to be an exciting one for the Detroit Lions.
After finishing the season with a 15-2 record, the team now has plenty of cap space to make improvements as they aim for their first Super Bowl appearance.
Before making any moves, though, the Lions will need to evaluate some players as potential cut candidates to free up additional cap space.
One player who could be on the chopping block is All-Pro wide receiver and return specialist Kalif Raymond. According to Pro Football Network’s Ben Rolfe, Raymond is a noteworthy candidate for relg
Raymond made the All-Pro Second Team for his performance as a punt returner in 2024, where he recorded 30 returns for 413 yards and one touchdown. However, most of his impact came in a single game against the struggling Tennessee Titans, where he tallied five returns for 190 yards, including a 90-yard touchdown.
As a receiver, his production was limited, managing just 17 catches for 215 yards and two touchdowns over 12 games.
Raymond carries a $6.38 million cap hit for the 2025 season, with only $3.1 million in dead cap, making his contract a potential target for savings. While cutting him may not be a top priority, the Lions will need to carefully assess whether his special teams contributions justify such a significant cost.
