Paul Finebaum Slams Dabo Swinney Following Clemson’s Heavy Defeat to Georgia
Paul Finebaum didn’t hold back in his criticism of Dabo Swinney after Clemson’s dismal 34-3 loss to top-ranked Georgia on Saturday. The Tigers, ranked No. 14, were thoroughly outplayed, marking a rough start to their 2024 season following a 9-4 record in 2023.
Swinney, who led Clemson to national championships in 2016 and 2018, has faced challenges in recent years. A major issue appears to be his reluctance to adapt to modern recruiting strategies, notably his minimal use of the transfer portal. While Georgia has integrated 11 transfer portal players this season, Clemson has only added two since 2021 and none this offseason.
On Monday’s Get Up, Finebaum didn’t hold back, declaring:
“Unfortunately, it seems like Dabo is finished at Clemson,” Finebaum said. “We’ve been predicting their downfall for a while, and they’ve managed to stay relevant. But against the top team on Saturday, they were completely overwhelmed. Dabo can argue against the criticism and insist that his methods are correct, but it’s clear he’s made serious mistakes by ignoring the transfer portal.”
Here’s that moment:
"Sadly, it seems like Dabo is really done this time at Clemson…Clearly, he has screwed up badly, refusing to go into the portal."
