Washington Commanders Terminate VP of Content After Derogatory Comments Surface
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Commanders have announced the firing of their vice president of content, Rael Enteen, following the release of undercover video footage showing him making derogatory comments about players, fans, and league officials.
A team spokesperson confirmed Thursday that Enteen’s termination came after an internal investigation revealed the offensive remarks. The video, posted on social media by O’Keefe Media Group, captured Enteen using derogatory language to describe players as “dumb” and “homophobic,” while disparaging fans as “high school-educated alcoholics” and “mouth breathers.”
“The language used in the video runs counter to our values at the Commanders organization,” the spokesperson stated. Enteen had been suspended initially pending the outcome of the investigation.
James O’Keefe, the founder of O’Keefe Media Group, shared with The Associated Press that the footage was recorded during two separate dates in June in Washington. According to O’Keefe, Enteen and the woman who filmed the interactions connected through a dating app.
The video also captured Enteen criticizing NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, labeling him “a $50 million puppet,” and questioning the sincerity of the league’s social justice initiatives. Additionally, he made inflammatory remarks about Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, alleging that Jones harbors animosity towards certain groups.
Attempts to reach a league spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful by Thursday, and the Cowboys have not responded to requests for a statement.
Enteen, who had been with the Commanders since 2020, also made disparaging remarks about Jones’s views on race and sexuality.
