Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam recently addressed the futures of key personnel amid the team’s disappointing 3-10 season. Expressing confusion over the team’s decline from an 11-6 record, Haslam stated, “We went from 11-6 and making the playoffs to 3-10, so it’s a little perplexing that happened.”
Despite the downturn, Haslam expressed support for head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry, both of whom received contract extensions in June 2024. The Browns’ ownership praised their leadership and collaborative approach, emphasizing a commitment to stability.
However, Haslam was non-committal regarding quarterback Deshaun Watson’s future. Watson, who signed a fully guaranteed $230 million contract in 2022, has underperformed and is currently sidelined with a season-ending Achilles injury. Haslam stated, “We need to get through the season and we will look at everything,” indicating that all aspects of the team’s performance will be evaluated after the season concludes.
The Browns face significant decisions moving forward, particularly concerning the quarterback position, as Watson’s substantial contract presents challenges for potential changes. The team is expected to conduct a comprehensive review to determine the best path forward.
